Bodog Poker Room Review

Ever since its creation, the poker network provided by Bodog has struggled for growth. Some say its a lack of promotions; others, just plain bad luck. Bodog is trying to change things, though. Originally, the site offered only a 10% signup bonus to new players. Recently, however, that bonus has been upgraded to a far larger 110% to a maximum of $1100 on new players’ first deposits.

Unfortunately, growth it still slow going, with most of the traffic sticking to Hold ‘Em games. Some Stud tables even sit empty. There are a few benefits to this environment, though. With such low traffic, the tables are likely to provide rather soft competition. The only problem is that most of this traffic hovers in micro- and low-limit tables. Read full review

Full Bodog Online Poker Review – 8.2/10

What Bodog lacks in regular traffic, it makes up for with its list of tournaments. Players will find almost 70 percent of the real money competition in tournaments hosted by Bodog. There are the traditional Sit ‘n’ Goes, ranging from $5 to $200, as well as scheduled events with prizes as high as $100,000. Serious players can even participate in World Series of Poker or World Poker Tour qualifiers at Bodog. One important thing to keep in mind is that Bodog limits cash-outs to either check or e-check.

Bodog Poker Software

Bodog software gets the job done, but it’s not the nicest poker network interface out there. It does manage a somewhat above average level of performance, though. The software’s layout is simple to navigate, making it easy for players to sort through the game types, stakes, and modes at Bodog. Beyond its ease-of-use, Bodog has simple, yet sharp graphics that are visually pleasing.

Bodog recently added Flash poker games, a welcomed improvement for players who like no download poker sites, and users who own a Mac computer.

Bodog Poker Bonuses

The signup bonus offered by Bodog was paltry in the past, but it’s since been beefed up to a nice 110% match bonus up to $1100. The first 10% of your deposit is matched with an instant poker bonus that can be used immediately to play real money poker games. The other 100% match is released in $10 increments for every 100 Bodog Points you earn.

Bodog also runs a fairly traditional loyalty rewards system, based on Bodog Poker Points (BPPs). New members get 50 points automatically, and more points are earned by playing the games at Bodog. One BPP is earned for every $1 in rake after each hand. Tournaments are a big part of Bodog, too, so every $1 of tournament fees is rewarded with six BPPs. Bodog Poker Points can then be redeemed for special tournament entries with guaranteed cash prizes.

Bodog Poker Games & Competition

The game variety is pretty straightforward, covering the standards like no limit, fixed limit, and pot limit Texas Hold ‘Em, as well as 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, and 5 Card Stud. The betting range is a little small, starting at 5 and 10 cents and capping at $30/$60. We’ve seen a few places with higher limits.

Competition is usually on the softer side at Bodog, but most of it sticks to games of Hold ‘Em, with most of that in micro and low limits. Sometimes the action can get incredibly loose, though, with flops seen reaching as high as 90 percent. Even the more moderate $5/$10 games have soft competition, as much as 40 percent seeing flops. But if players are looking for a game of Stud, it can be difficult finding opponents at Bodog.

Bodog Poker Support & Deposit Options

Bodog players with questions or issues can contact customer support through email or by telephone. Email responses are fairly prompt, with Bodog responding usually within a single business day. Peak times can cause long waits for telephone customer service, though.

Players can deposit funds into their Bodog accounts through Virtual Pin, NETeller, Credit Card, Citadel, FirePay, CentralCon, bank draft, or check. Frustratingly, Bodog only offers two cash out methods: check and e-check.
